Waiheke Island is close enough to Auckland to view the city’s lights, yet far enough away to feel completely removed. Blessed with its own warm, dry microclimate, Waiheke is a Kiwi’s ideal weekend-getaway and a tourist’s ultimate escape into beaches and vineyards.

Regular passenger services are available through Fullers from Downtown Auckland. However, if you would prefer to bring your car to the island, SeaLink sail from Downtown Auckland and Halfmoon Bay (in Auckland’s east).

On the island’s northern side lies its ultimate beach, Onetangi Bay. Adjoining Onetangi’s golden sand and turquoise water, the beach offers two cafes and central access to the island’s other amenities.

For more information on Waiheke Island, we recommend a visit to Lonely Planet or Waiheke’s local services website.
